Bianco Macerato "Modus Bibendi" 2018 $30 One of our favorite orange wines every year (yes we have a lot of favorites, but we really really mean it with this one!). This is a blend of equal parts Grillo, Catarratto and Zibibbo all hand harvested from organic vineyards, then the Grillo and Zibibbo are pressed together and left on the skins for 20 days, while the Catarratto is fermented separately and also left on the skins for 20 days. It all gets put together and aged in steel for 7 months before getting bottled unfiltered with just a touch of sulfur. Beautifully balanced with aromatic orchard fruit
Glou Glou Rosso 2019 $21 Normally we see Nerello Mascalese making serious, complex and age worthy reds up on Mount Etna, but here on the coast it produced a more laid back, fruit forward expression. Team Elios leans into that difference making this chillable and chuggable expression, which this vintage sees about 15% Nero d'Avola in the mix which adds a little more depth of fruit than the previous incarnation, but it still clocks in at about 11% ABV and should be consumed in large quantities, preferably in the daylight hours.
