Esparter Reserva Classic, AT Roca 2015 (Penedes, Spain)
This is really something special. 100% Macabeu from a single vineyard planted in 1968 on a chunk of limestone 1000+ feet up in the Costers d’Ordal. Hand harvested and fully destemmed, then wild fermented in old barrels and aged on the lees for 40 months and disgorged with no dosage. Firm bubbles with toasty brioche notes and fleshy stone fruit with a lean mineral finish. Fancy business.
