100% Muscat D'Alexandrie
Looking to make a more traditional wine than his neighbors, Alberto farms this vineyard in "secaro", without irrigation. The soils here are red clay and limestone, and the vines, which are 35+ years old, are treated with compost and plant extracts to ward off diseases, and are finally hand-harvested. There is a first phase of vatting and treading of the whole grape in stone presses (between 10 and 15 days), then 100% destemming and brief work with skins (between 2 and 3 days), indigenous yeasts, manual work of the hat during maceration-fermentation, and 3 weeks skin contact. The wine is then aged 6 months on its lees, and bottled unfined, unfiltered, barely sulfured. Vegan.
Talk about breathtaking. This is the best natural orange wine from Valencia, bright and vivacious, with excellent purity and depth of flavors, ending in a long finish.
