Fleurie "Vieille Vigne de la Cadole", Domaine de la Chapelle des Bois 2019 $24 80 year old Gamay from a single vineyard in Fleurie planted on pink granite, wild fermented semi-carbonic in cement, then aged for about a year in large old barrel. Layered with dark red berry fruit and crushed dried flowers on a silky, but structured frame.
Morgon "Grand Cras", Maison Perraud 2018 $34 Gamay from a single vineyard of 60 year old vines planted on decomposed blue granite and farmed without any chemicals whatsoever, hand harvested and wild fermented whole cluster, then pressed off and aged in old cask for 6 months before getting bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur added. Dark fruited, but light on its feet with juicy wild blackberry notes and crushed rocks.
