Ramón Saavedra is one of the pioneers and champions of this region. He has been making wines in his hometown of Cortes y Graena, high up (over 3000ft!) in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Granada, since 1999 and has never used chemicals in his vineyard or any additions, including sulfur, in his cellar. This is his Rosado made from 100% Tempranillo planted on iron rich red clay soil, half of the grapes are destemmed, pressed and left with the skins for 12 hours and the other half are whole cluster, direct pressed. All in steel for 6 months, then bottled unfiltered with nothing added. Drinks like a light red with spiced berries, crushed flowers, tomato leaf and crunchy minerality. Not your pushover summer water variety of pink.
