Dry White Zinfandel, Monte Rio Cellars 2018 (California)

This is not your Grandma's White Zin. This comes from an organic 20+ year old Zinfandel vineyard just east of Napa, all hand harvested and foot stomped, fermented with native yeast in a combination of concrete tanks and ceramic eggs, then aged in old barrel for 4 months before bottling unfiltered with minimal sulfur added. Zippy and bright with rhubarb and wild berries. Monte Rio is a project from superstar sommelier Patrick Cappiello and Pax Mahle who are focused on making affordable, organic, classic California wines that are a throwback to the styles more popular in the 60s and 70s.
