Usually Nerello Mascalese comes from the volcanic soils of Mt. Etna, where it makes serious, complex wines. But here in Alcamo at lower elevations close to the coast, it produces a juicy, ripe version that the Elios team makes into a perfect chillable chuggable red. Fresh strawberries and red plum on a silky frame meant to be consumed in large quantities. Great for anything spicy, but especially tacos eaten outside.
