Foglia Tonda is an ancient tuscan grape variety, that was considered extinct for past centuries, but recently rediscovered and today it is one of the rarest varieties in the world. Deep pigmentation, along with pepper, smoked meat, blackberry, and umami aromas belie the more subtle palate of this high acidity, low tannin natural wine. An interesting departure from the usual players. Probably would be great with stewed meats that involve tomatoes or mushrooms, or grilled meats like a porchetta. Rustic wine to pair with rustic cuisine.
