Grignolino "Marcaleone", Crealto 2021 (Piedmont, Italy)

Reference point Grignolino, a local grape to southeastern Piedmont known for its light color, but firm tannins. This comes from a plot of 55 year old vines planted on steep slope by the "master of Grignolino" Marco Quarello, but farmed and produced by Eleonora Costa and Luigi Armanino, two sommeliers from Genoa. Smoky raspberries and crushed rose petals with nice grip. Serve this chilled next to something salty and fatty.
