Pet Nat 100%, Sebastien Brunet 2020 $23 Ok, the name on this one is a little misleading. This is actually 80% Grolleau and 20% Gamay from a tiny co-planted plot of 55 year old vines in Vouvray. The grapes are hand harvested and gently pressed whole cluster and wild fermented in tank, then bottled before it was finished and eventually disgorged with almost no sulfur added. Vibrant red berry fruit and easy bubbles. Drink this by the gallon.
Grolleau "Cocagne", Le Fief Noir 2019 $23 This is another longtime shop favorite made by two friends who met working harvest in Corsica and decided to team up and buy a few plots not far from Angers where this vineyard of 30+ year old vines grows without chemicals. The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed, then foot crushed and wild fermented in concrete, where it then ages for 6 months before getting bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur. Juicy and bright with sour cherry and red plum notes and a silky, lipsmacking finish. Serve this slightly chilled.
