Languedoc 2 Pack

La Pierre de Sisyphe, Les Bories Jefferies 2018 $25 Jo Jefferies is an Englishman who went to the south of France to help his dad fix up a house and never felt. He managed to make friends with Remi Pujol and Bernard Bellhasen, among others, and now works about 10 acres of old vines planted on volcanic soil in Herault. This is a blend of Marsanne, Grenache Blanc and Terret Blanc and Gris, whole cluster pressed and wild fermented in resin vats and bottled unfiltered with nothing added whatsoever. Medium bodied and round with soft acidity, ripe orchard fruit and smoky wild herbs.

Rond Noirs, Olivier Cohen 2019 $33 We love Olivier Cohen, who also works a few parcels completely naturally in Herault. He might be more known for his rosés, but this chillable red is not to be missed. This is a blend of Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault all co-fermented whole cluster for 7 days before pressing off to tank, where it ages for a few months on the lees, then gets bottled unfiltered with no sulfur added. Juicy, expressive and fun with a deep core of candied red and purple fruit that really opens up beautifully and disappears all too quickly. Throw this in the fridge about 20 minutes before you're ready to open it.
