Metamorphika 4 Pack

Orange de Noirs 2019 $25 The one wine here that's not in a clay bottle. 70% Sumoll Negre, 30% Xarel-lo Vermell (a pink skinned sister of Xarel-lo)  from 67-80 year old high elevation vineyards. The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed, then wild fermented together for 6 weeks in amphora, then pressed off to a mix of old barrels for 9 months before getting bottled unfiltered. Don't drink this one too cold or you'll miss out on some of the aromatics. Pine needles and rosemary with tangerine and forest berries on a lean, medium bodied frame.

Metamorphika Sumoll Blanc Brisat 2020 $39 70-80 year old Sumoll Blanc from 2 plots, 50% left whole cluster, crushed and wild fermented in amphora and left on the skins for 12 weeks, then left in amphora for 4 months on the lees. Like the orange de Noirs above, it's got strong forest vibes with pine needles and rosemary and roasted citrus with nice texture from the skin contact and a lean, zippy finish.

Metamporphika Macabeu Brisat 2020 $39 Macabeu from a single plot of 70+ year old vines made in the same way as the Sumoll Blanc above: 50% Whole cluster, wild fermented in amphora with 12 weeks of skin contact, then 4 months in amphora on the lees and bottled unfiltered with almost no sulfur. More fruit forward and open than the Sumoll Blanc with notes of not so ripe apricots to go with those savory forest floor notes that really are the thread that ties these wines together.

Metamorphika Trepat 2019 $39 60+ year old single vineyard Trepat, hand harvested and fully destemmed, then wild fermented in amphora, where it ages on the lees for 9 months until its bottled unfiltered with almost no sulfur added. Dark fruited, but fresh and lively with wild plums and crushed rocks on a silky medium bodied frame.
