Meursault "Sous La Velle", Remi Jobard 2020 (Burgundy, France)

The Jobard name is a powerful one in Meursault, and Remi took full control of this estate in 1996 from his father. When this transition took place, he found himself taking over Meursault and Puligny-based Bourgogne Blancs. The domaine has not used herbicides or pesticides since 1994; they are certified organic. Tasting these wines are a "sensual tour of rock and vine."

This Sous La Velle parcel is about 3/4 of a hectare with 30+ year old vines and resides in the heart of the village of Meursault. The wine is aged in 50% barrique, 20% of which is new, and 50% in large older foudre. It is then finished in tank for an additional 6 months before bottling.
