Perricone "Kalio", Cantine Barbera 2019 (Sicily, Italy)

An obscure native grape of southern Italy, Perricone comes from the northwestern part of the island, produces lighter side of medium red with an exotic profile of red and purple berry fruit and crushed flowers. This one is made by Marilena Barbera whose family has been making wine here in Menfi for over 100 years. This is hand harvested from younger organic vines, wild fermented and aged for 3 months in big Slavonian oak barrels.
