Old school Rioja made outside of the DO system by native son and renegade purist Gaby Maztoy. This is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 8% Viura, 7% Graciano from organic vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. Hand harvested and wild fermented in open topped 500L barrels, in a semi-carbonic atmosphere, then foot crushed and aged for 20 months in used French oak barrels on the lees. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with only a tiny amount of SO2 at bottling. Full bodied with dark cherry and earthy leather notes.
