San Fereolo 2013 (Piedmont, Italy)

This is a special library release from Nicoletta Bocca of San Fereolo. She makes wine just south of Barolo in Dogliani, where Dolcetto is queen and Nicoletta is making the most age worthy and noble expression of it, along with her take on a number of other classic and not so classic Piedmontese grapes. Because this is such a special release, we are only selling these wines as a pair. Here's what we have to offer:

Dogliani 2013 $38 This is Nicoletta's flagship wine. Carefully selected Dolcetto from her best plots ranging in age from 40-70 years old, all certified Biodynamic, fully destemmed and wild fermented, then aged in different sized Slavonian oak barrels for 3 years before getting bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur added. Medium plus and velvety with spiced dark plum fruit and layers of earthy truffle and leather.

Langhe Rosso "Austri" 2013 $40 This is an atypical blend of 95% Barbera and 5% Nebbiolo mostly from the Austri vineyard, made in the exact same way as the Dolcetto above. Red fruited, softened by the almost decade of rest, but still medium plus and structured with woodsy forest floor notes and savory wild herbs.
