Skull Red Blend, Monte Rio Cellars 2019 (California, USA)
This is a blend of 50% Petite Sirah, 30% Mission, 20% Zinfandel all from organic vineyards around Lodi, fermented 100% whole cluster, full carbonic maceration, then pressed off to old barrel for 10 months, then bottled unfiltered with no sulfur added. Juicy and fresh and nice with a little chill, but again, can go either way. Monte Rio Cellars is a project from famed NYC sommelier Patrick Cappiello and Pax Mahle who are making really fresh and delicious (and affordable) wines from organic vineyards all around northern California. We're big fans.
