Tanganelli "Mammi" Sangiovese (Tuscany, Italy) 2018

This is Marco’s most profound wine, a pure Sangiovese from a striking hilltop parcel of granite, schist and clay. Marco cleared the land himself and planted 7 different clones of albarello trained Sangiovese 40 years ago. With a prolonged, 40-45 day maceration, ‘Mammi’ is pressed into botti grandi for long aging. While his other wines come off as modest, ‘Mammi’ is potent and serious terroir wine of exceptional quality. It calls for decanting and a heartier meal to accompany, and shows enormous aging potential.
