Teroldego, Foradori 2022 (Trentino, Italy)

This is Elisabetta's entry level red made from a few different plots of Teroldego planted between 1956 and 2005. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with native yeast, partial whole cluster, in cement tanks, then aged in a combination of cement and large old foudre, then bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur. Teroldego is thought to be an ancestor of Syrah and some of those meaty, blueberry notes definitely show up here along with some deep dark cherries and crushed flowers with silky tannins and a juiciness that keeps it light on it's feet. Beautiful and singular.
