100% Cabernet Franc
Laurent Herlin makes this lovely, easy-drinking light red wine from 35-year old biodynamic Cabernet Franc vines in Bourgueil on stony soils in the Clos de la Gaucherie. After a manual harvest, they are carbonically macerated for 15 days (entire bunches - unseeded) in tanks saturated with carbon dioxide. The native fermentation will start inside each grape, and once finished the wine is then quickly bottled unfined and lightly filtered. The result is a wine that tastes of light red fruits backed by a tangy mineral backbone ending in a long finish.
