Unfamiliar Red, Dirty and Rowdy 2017 (North Coast, California)

This wine is called unfamiliar for a reason: the producers put together a blend with three grapes, mostly Mourvèdre with some Syrah and Grenache, from four different Viticultural Areas, and tried to create a balanced wine without exactly knowing the possible final result! Or, probably, having in hand good quality grapes, they thought it was worth the risk. It was. Mourvèdre grapes give a concentrated and tannic wine but Syrah and Grenache play their role bringing elegance, spice, and floral aroma. It's a full-bodied, earthy wine that's still easy to drink and smooth in texture.
