Vacqueyras, Domaine de la Monardiere 2020 (Rhone Valley, France)

About 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, both farmed organically. The Grenache vines date back to the 1950s, with some plantings in 1970. The Syrah vines were planted in the 1980s. Harvested by hand. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, no additives are used, and very little sulfites are added. A powerful, yet balanced wine that has an old-school edge in its meaty, peppery, leather, and nutty aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has some firmer tannins, good overall balance, and outstanding length.
