Gruner Veltliner Pet Nat, Hager Matthias 2020 (Niederösterreich, Austria)

Hager is redefining the idea of what gruner is meant to be. For this sparkling wine, Hager uses some of his older Grüner Veltliner vines (35-50yo), the grapes were immediately pressed and spontaneously fermented in stainless steel and in wooden barrels. The fermenting juice was was bottled during final fermentation, resulting in a mineral PET NAT (naturally tingly) with beautiful, tiny bubbles, a riper pear tone permeating throughout and a tangy almost cidery quality.
