Mataro "Merla", Celler de les Aus 2017 (Catalonia, Spain)

Mataro aka Monastrell aka Mourvedre from biodynamic vines in Alta Alella, just north of Barcelona close to the Mediterranean coast, fermented with native yeast and aged in a combination of large old acacia tanks and smaller cherry wood barrels for 3 months, then bottled with no sulfur added at any stage. Full bodied with ripe wild dark red and purple fruit and baking spice.
