Jean-Sebastien Gioan bottles under the name Potron Minet. Des Potron Minet is a colloquial way of saying "first thing in the morning", roughly translated to "as soon as the cat shows its ass". Jean-Sebastien is a disciple of the Puzelat brothers and Jean Francois Nicq of Domaine des Foulards Rouge and has settled down in the hills south of Nimes where he rents a few organic vineyards and makes beautifully balanced, clean, fresh, lively wines, completely naturally.
80% Grenache Gris and Blanc from a single vineyard planted in 1963 and 20% Muscat Petit Grain planted in 1980, all farmed without chemicals, hand harvested, fermented with native yeast and aged in fiberglass tank until bottling unfiltered with almost no sulfur in March. Medium bodied, but light on its feet and really aromatic and bright.
Pari Trouillas Rouge 2020 $25 70% Carignan planted in 1938 and 1959, 30% Grenache planted in 1980, all organic and hand harvested, then fermented semi carbonic for 10 days before pressing off to vat where it ages on the lees until March, when it get's bottled unfiltered with almost no sulfur added. Juicy with candied dark fruit and spice and a mouthwatering finish. Nice with a little chill, but can go either way.
