Rosso di Montalcino, La Torre 2018 (Tuscany, Italy)

This is an absolute classic. Pure Sangiovese Grosso from organic parcels around the small La Torre estate in La Sesta, just south of Montalcino. The grapes are hand harvested, destemmed and fermented in large old barrel, where it also ages for 18 months with a small portion of the juice going into smaller used barrique, then it's bottled by gravity, unfiltered with minimal sulfur added. Deep dark cherry fruit with leathery earth notes and wild herbs.
