Roug E Clair, Ledogar 2022 (Languedoc, France)

The color tells much of the story here: Mourvèdre and Carignan grapes co-fermented & co-macerated for a very short period of time (less than 1 day!). It’s fresh, bright and spellbindingly delicious, with cherry-red fruit, soft earth and a hint of the gentlest, softest little green-tannin structure you could imagine. Brothers Xavier & Mathieu Ledogar are fourth generation growers here, but the first to make their own wine instead of selling to the co-op. A waft of soft barnyard floor is quickly joined by bright, fresh red fruit.
