Sparkling:
L'Onesta Lambrusco di Sorbana NV, Famiglia Carafoli (Emilia Romagna, Italy) $16
Sparkling dry wine, with a characteristic bouquet of violets. Ruby-red color with a dry but gentle finish, light and crisp. An excellent companion with many Italian dishes, especially those including parmesan, prosciutto, or balsamic vinegar
White:
Soave Garganuda, Giovanni Menti 2019 (Veneto, Italy) $15
This is wonderfully fresh and textural garganega that has a slightly cloudy hue from no filtration or fining in the winemaking. Can be slurped relentlessly at the house party or deeply pondered over dinner. Green apple, pear, honey, minerals. Biodynamic.
Aransat Orange, Borgo Savaian di Bastiani Stefano 2021 (Friuli, Italy) $19
Aransat (Friulian for orange) is a blend of de-stemmed Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc fermented on the skins and macerated for about 90 days to get a gorgeous Sherry-like orange color. Medium-bodied, dry. Citrus and apricot on the nose with more stone fruit on the palate. Finishes with orange bitters, pine, and minerals.
Red:
Montepulciano, Cirelli La Collina 2021 (Abruzzo, Italy) $14
This is pure Montepulciano from younger organic vines, wild fermented and aged all in steel, then bottled unfiltered with almost no sulfur added. Medium bodied with wild plums and roasted strawberries perfect for pizza night.
Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Laurent Family Vinyard 2021 (Maipo Valley, Chile) $15
Organically grown grapes. A bold and aromatic red. A mix of blackberry pie and cassis. The palate is dry with cassis and wild blackberries.
Red Blend, Gulp/Hablo 2021 (La Mancha, Spain) $17
Big ol' blend of 9 red grapes (Garnacha, Monastrell, etc) and 7 white (Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, etc), all from biodynamic vineyards in La Mancha farmed by the Parra family and the wine is made with minimal intervention by Juan Antonio Ponce. Juicy, spicy dark red fruit that drinks like a heavy rose. You'll be glad it's in a liter bottle. Keep this in the fridge.
Rosso della Motta, Centovigne 2020 (Piedmont, Italy) $19
Back to our friends in the old castle in Alto Piemonte with red that screams fall. 80% Nebbiolo and 20% Vespolina from younger organic vines. The grapes are hand harvested and wild fermented and aged in concrete, then bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur added. Medium bodied with high-toned red forest berries and wild herbs with crushed rocks and pine needles on a structured, but easy going frame.
