Portugal is a treasure trove of honest, traditional old world wines that over deliver for the price. The Leziria does not disappoint. It’s a co-fermented field blend blend of native Iberian varietals - 30% each of Aragonez (aka Tempranillo), Castelao and Trincadeira with 10% 'others' - which pretty much sums up their attitude towards winemaking, art over science! Full-bodied with ripe black cherry flavors, a hint of violet and a firm, earthy, dusty finish, it pairs wonderfully with a nice Portuguese chorizo and bean stew, roasted meats or a firm, salty cheese like Queijo de Cabra Transmontano.
