For Heaven's Sake, Don't Move Here, Franchere Wine Co. 2021 $26 (Willamette Valley, Oregon)Have you tried this one? We have been quietly pushing this for the last month or so and it has quickly become a favorite on our Orange shelf. Skin contact Pinot Gris and Gruner Veltliner from Willamette Valley with the most Brooklyn name ever. Looks like a dark roséand tastes like fall. Bottled leaf-peeping.
Beaujolais-Villages, Georges Descombes 2020 $30 (Beaujolais, France)Speaking of tastes like fall, it's Bojo season! Tonight we have a head to head from one of the greats, Georges Descombes, who was an early pioneer in the world of natural wine and makes pitch perfect expressions of Gamay from the many sub zones of the region. Don't let the non Cru status of this Beaujolais-Villages fool you, this is serious business. Semi carbonic and aged in a combination of old foudre and vat for about a year. Layered and complex.
Morgon, Georges Descombes 2020 $35 (Beaujolais, France)The perfect counterpoint to the BV above. Georges is based in Morgon, so his hometown wine always over delivers and serves as a reference point for what this Cru should taste like- structured and mineral with deep, dark fruit without being heavy.
