Perfect Holiday Bottles

Hi Everyone,

We are putting together a couple of special sets of wine for the holidays that make perfect gifts (even if you're giving them to yourself). 

First up is a spectacular trio of French classics. All three of these are crowd friendly no-brainers that will work for everyone, from a co-worker or family member whose taste you don't really know, to the most experienced wine nerd that knows everything. Here's the lineup:

1er Cru Blanc de Blanc Brut "Cuvee Vendemiaire", Champagne Doyard NV $48 100% Chardonnay all from 45+ year old vines from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in the Cote de Blancs, primarily around Vertus, all farmed without any chemicals whatsoever. Then each plot is vinified separately, then blended. This is a bottling is a blend of 50% 2014, 30% 2013 and 20% 2012, aged on the lees for 5 years. Ripe yellow fruit with salty citrus and a savory note of wild herbs on the long mineral finish. 

Bourgogne Blanc, Domaine Huber-Verdereau 2016 $35 Don't let the simple Bourgogne Blanc title fool you, this is serious business. Biodynamic Chardonnay from a few de-classified plots in Mersault averaging 30 years old, fermented with native yeast in a mix of steel and old barrel, then aged in steel and barrel for 8 months before bottling lightly filtered with minimal sulfur added. Round, ripe yellow fruit and chiseled minerality with a bright mouthwatering finish that goes on forever. Reference point Chardonnay. Farmed and produced completely naturally by Thiebault Huber. We have his excellent red made all in concrete below as well.

Maranges Rouge 1er Cru Clos Roussots, Domaine des Rouges Queues 2017 $50 We love these wines from the husband and wife team of Isabelle and Jean Yves Vantey, who work completely naturally in southern Burgundy. This is Pinot Noir from a small 40+ year old 1er Cru vineyard right on the border of Maranges and Santenay. 2017 is a really open and friendly vintage and this show lush cherry notes with smokey minerality and a long silky finish. Perfect Pinot that everyone will love. We also have a few other bottlings from them that you can find below.
